Low Vision Therapy
Low vision is the broad term given to a limited loss of vision which can not be successfully fixed with traditional methods such as surgery, contact lenses, medications or glasses. The most common causes of low vision include optic nerve atrophy, inherited retinal degenerative diseases, macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
Usually, low vision therapy consists of an evaluation of your visual abilities, followed by prescription of devices for low vision and then training in their use. The main aim of this therapy is to get the patient to use their available vision to the best of their ability for various day to day tasks such as work related tasks, hobbies, reading, writing and using a computer.
